A Message From the Winchester Medical Center President

Tonya Smith, MHA

Chief Operating Officer, Valley Health ‍ ‍President, Winchester Medical Center

At Valley Health, we believe that caring for our communities extends beyond treating illness. It means supporting the emotional, mental, and physical well-being of every individual, especially our young people.

Mental health challenges among youth continue to affect families, schools, and communities across our region. The impacts of anxiety, depression, social pressures, and feelings of isolation can be profound. Through education, awareness, and open conversations, we can help ensure that individuals who are struggling know they are not alone and that support is available.

Valley Health is proud to partner with organizations and community leaders who share our commitment to promoting mental wellness and preventing suicide. Initiatives like My Ascension foster understanding, reduce stigma, and encourage meaningful dialogue around mental health. By bringing together healthcare providers, educators, families, and community partners, we can create environments where young people feel connected, supported, and empowered to seek help when they need it.

Every conversation matters. Every connection matters. And every life matters.

Thank you for joining us in this important effort to build stronger, healthier communities and to ensure that hope, compassion, and support are available to all.

Tonya Smith, FACHE
